Roel Verhoeven to victory in Saarschleifen marathon

In the Transalp he already showed his great shape and did it again today by winning the Saarschleifen marathon in the German Eifel. Verhoeven arrived solo at the finish line in Orscholz ahead of Belgian rider Joris Massaer. With an average speed over 26 kilometers an hour over 2225 altimeters he also broke the course record of his KMC teammate Ramses Bekkenk standing from 2011. I started with a lot of confidence in this race as I recovered well from Transalp. Winning was my goal and breaking the record with my time of 3:43:16 the cherry on the cake. ’, stated Verhoeven.
