The beachrace in Wijk aan Zee was a real battle this weekend. Strong winds, rain and a tough technical round of 10 kilometres, which had to be covered four times: all ingredients for a great but challenging race. Richard Jansen claimed the win by defeating Ramses Bekkenk in the final sprint.
‘After the “Crocodile Trophy” I took things quietly for a while. Still, the first beachraces did not go too bad. The race on Texel actually went quite good, until I got a flat tyre. Today I felt stronger again and soon took the lead in the race together with Janssen. Since sprinting is not my best quality, I was not surprised to see Janssen win the sprint and therefore the race. For me, most important is to know I am getting in shape. The rest of the team was strong as well today with Bram, Stefan and Ad on respectively 5th, 9th and 18th place’, stated Bekkenk.
