A great second day for Bram Rood in Titan Desert because after 113 kilometres he arrived solo at the finish line in Toughach and could add a great victory to his track record of success. The stage departed in Aknouin and went mostly downhill with in the last 35 kilometres side and headwind. Teammates Ramses Bekkenk and Stefan Vreugdenhil arrived in the peloton at 23th and 24th place in Toughach.
‘Today we were with a quit big group together behind two men in the lead and heading for the last feed zone. It was not possible to escape but also not really in racing mode. A situation I don’t like so I agreed with Ramses to take his last full bottle so I would not have to stop for water at the last feed zone. Beside me two man had the same plan and together we caught the two leaders and worked well together with five of us. It was good to know I had the back up of Ramses and Stefan in the chasing group. With ten kilometers to go I managed to get a gap but was caught again by two men including former Tour winner Oscar Pereiro. But Pereiro crashed and I got rid of Juan Pedro Trujillo. Awesome to win a stage here!.’, stated Bram Rood. Portuguese José Silva is still leader in general classification.
