Bram Rood wins, Bekkenk just falls short

KMC-Mitsubishi-Koga team brought on Ameland tension back in the Lotto beachrace classification but also kept the tension in the final race in Castricum. Bram Rood leading after Ameland with 2 points on Thijs Zonneveld finally won with 3 points on Ronan van Zandbeek. Zonneveld finished 3th in general classification. Rood’s teammate Ramses Bekkenk saw his early attacked not being rewarded in Castricum. He was caught with less than one kilometre to go and beaten in the sprint by Bram Imming and Ronan van Zandbeek.

‘I had a good day and came in the lead with Bram Imming. On an embankment Bram flattened and so I was alone in the lead and decided to go for it on my own. I gave everything but it was just not enough for the win today.’, stated Bekkenk. Behind Bekkenk, van Zandbeek and Imming, who got a spare wheel of his teammate, were Bram Rood and Stefan Vreugdenhil on spot 4 and 5 working together to close the gap on van Zandbeek who was a threat for Rood’s overall victory. Their mission succeeded and Rood won the overall classification with his 4th place just before Vreugdenhil who ended 5th.
