Bas Luca de Vries, Lola Bakker and Rozanne Slik on the podium

Bas Luca de Vries finished second in the Ardennes Trophy in La Reid, Belgium on Sunday. The new KMC biker had to let his Belgian companion Simon Gregoire go after about 60 kilometres of racing. “We were five men away from the start and our group thinned out more and more. On one of the many climbs, Simon managed to drop me, but the gap remained very small. Unfortunately, I was unable to bridge it,” said de Vries. Wim de Bruin took third place.

Teammates Lola Bakker and Rozanne Slik also finished on the podium. Slik did so by finishing third behind winner Joyce Vanderbeken and Julia Gregoire in the Ardennes Trophy after 95 gruelling kilometres. Bakker was at the start of the 80 kilometre long Laachersee marathon. In the German Nickenich she rode unchallenged to victory by leaving Monique Zeldenrust behind her.
