Troubles again for Bram Rood and Gerben Mos in last stage of Cape Pioneer Trek. From the start they took the lead but just before a single track they flattened. After they fixed their tire they were behind the complete peloton on the single track and their race was over as they had to find their way through the rear guard.
‘On the single track a lot of the slower riders were walking which made us slow down a lot. It was the most worst place to flatten. Not only the chance for a good stage result was gone but we also lost 7th place in GC.’, stated Rood. Fellow countrymen Jeroen Boelen and Erik Groen had a topday as their tird place was enough for second place in GC. Mitchel Steenman and Matthijs Jasperse rode their best dayresult and came in at ninth place. Enough to keep their thirteenth place in GC.
