The longest stage of the 2014 Crocodile Trophy took it’s riders from the historic mining town of Irvinebank to the picturesque Skybury Coffee Plantation near Mareeba. Márton Blazsó, the reigning Hungarian National Marathon Champion, was in his element in the hot Outback temperatures and wins today’s stage. Bekkenk had an unfortunate day with two flat tires and finished at 20th place and also lost his 3th place in the general classification.
“Today I flattened my front and rear tire at the same time and afterwards also broke my pump when I was repairing my tires. It took some time before I got a pump from someone else and could continue my race with a 100 kilometres solo with wind coming ahead. This really sucks!”, stated a disappointed Bekkenk.
