Mariëlle Trouwborst once again showed her good form on the beach today. In Wijk aan Zee no one could follow the KMC rider during the Subaru Beach Battle. The Westerly storm caused the peloton to split into groups soon after the start. Trouwborst managed to maintain a good position at the front and continued to increase her lead every lap over the chasing Puck Pinxt and Tirza Wisse, who eventually came in second and third.
‘I had a good day today and it was nice to get my fourth victory of the season here. I’m already looking forward to the next race in Ouddorp, which is on my program next Saturday.’, says Trouwborst. Rozanne Slik finished 7th. Ramses Bekkenk initially rode at the front of the race, but the changing pace broke him down and he finished 14th ahead of his teammates Gerben Mos and Martin Schuttert who finished 24th and 29th.
