In Katwijk the KMC-Fruit to Go mountainbiketeam started in the second beachrace of the topcompetition. One week ago during Hoek van Holland to Den Helder Ramses Bekkenk and Martin Schuttert had to deal with bad luck but this time whole team arrived at the finish without problems. It was Bram Rood who was in the front group right from the start where Ramses Bekkenk faced a difficult start dropping from first group.
‘After the start I had to let go the leaders but managed to get back in the front line once I found my rhythm. Pretty soon in the race we managed to escape with later winner Ronan van Zandbeek, Jasper Ockeloen, Jordy Buskermolen and my teammate Bram Rood.’, stated Bekkenk. At the end of the race the battle for victory was between Rood, Ockeloen and van Zandbeek. ‘Unfortunately I was not strong enough to escape as I knew that in most cases I would loose a sprint with van Zandbeek and Ockeloen. So the third place was all there was left for me in the sprint. With my teammates Ramses Bekkenk at 5th place, Gerben Mos at 15th place and Martin Schuttert at 26th place as a team we performed quite good and look forward to next race at the isle of Texel coming saturday.’, stated Rood
