Just like in 2015 the prologue of Cape Pioneer starts in Mosselbay. From the start it goes up town through the streets and ends in a great singletrack downhill to the Lighthouse with view on the Indian Ocean. From that point on there are some steep switchbacks back to the coastline where to riders face around six ‘flat’ kilometers. Rood en Mos rode a solid prologue and ended just behind fellow countrymen Erik Groen en Jeroen Boelen at sixth place. Victory was for South African duo Erik Kleinhans en Matthew Beers.
