Rood and Mos meet some giraffes in first stage Cape Pioneer Trek

It’s not only the race but also who you meet during the race which makes it exciting. Bram Rood and Gerben Mos met three giraffes today in Cape Pioneer. First kilometers of the race were flat and on tarmac but after 10 kilometers the first climb of the day was waiting. A few riders managed to escape but were caught in the descend and the bunch was back together.

‘Afterwards the pace went up and we had to let go a few duos and choose to ride our own pace. This appeared to be a good move as during the race we caught up with several riders and managed to leave them behind. In the last part I was sufferiing really hard and Erik Groen and Jeroen Boelen passed us so we ended up fifth. This is also the place in general classification.’, stated Mos. The stage was won by South African duo Nico Bell and Gawie Combrinck.
