Bram Rood and Gerben Mos finished at 7th and 6th place on day three and four in Cape Pioneer Trek. Mos was not feeling great on the first days but seems to recover day by day and with three days to go a podium finish is still possible. Third place is now occupied by fellow countrymen Jeroen Boelen and Erik Groen who are shortly followed by South African riders James Reid and Jullian Jessop. Olympic rower Mitchel Steenman and Matthijs Jasperse are ranked at position 14. General lead is for South African duo Nico Bell and Gawie Combrick.
‘Yesterday the leading group took it easy in the first 40 kilometers so a second group managed to catch up with us again. In the following climb Gerben was just not strong enough to follow the leaders so we were out on our own and I had to do a lot of work on the flat sections. Today was a great stage with over 25 kilometers of single track with start and finish in George. Tomorrow we have a long stage of 94 kilometers where we will have to climb from the start and afterwards more or less go downhill to Oudtshoorn. Looking forward to that stage already.’,stated Rood.
