Ramses Bekkenk wins last stage Crocodile Trophy

The fastest rider to complete today’s 30km time trial from Wetherby Cattle Station naar Port Douglas was Ramses Bekkenk, who was the fastest one of five competitors to clock in a race time of under one hour. In today’s general classification, Bekkenk finished in 58:13.62 ahead of Milton Ramos from Spain (+10.69), Greg Saw (+47.99), the Italian former pro-cyclist Max Lelli (+1:15.65) and Australia’s Ondrej Slezak (+1:19.94).

“Yes today I won the last stage in the closing time trial and managed to give a positive end to the toughest  and most beautiful race of my career. Last five kilometres were on the beach and that’s something I am experienced in. At the end I finished 4th in the general classification but with these kind of stage races you can’t afford to have too much bad luck to battle for the victory.”, stated Bekkenk.
