A new course record for German winner Andreas Seefelfd the 211 kilometres long Salzkammergut marathon in Austria and a 10th place for Ramses Bekkenk. After 7700 altimetres an exhausted Bekkenk passes the finish line in 10:40:33 in Bad Goisern. Leander Hamelink arrived at place 29 as second Dutchman.
‘It was bloody hot today but everybody had to cope with that situation but it’s far from ideal for me. Till halfway the race I managed to gain some places and after 125 kilometres I rode at 3th place. From then on I lost a bit of energy and also lost places. In the end for such a long race there was only a five minutes gap with number six in the classification and that’s not a lot. From now on I will take some rest and recover and then in two weeks I will start in the Ironbike.’, stated Bekkenk.
