After a successful gravel season, Mariëlle Trouwborst competed in her first beachrace last weekend. It wasn’t just a battle against the competition, but also a battle against the elements on the Zeeland coast. The strong wind had created numerous sand dunes and was still very much present during the race. Unfortunately, after a crash early in the race, Trouwborst had to chase down her rivals. She rode a strong comeback to second place, but she was unable to catch winner Tessa Neefjes. KMC teammate Rozanne Slik finished fifth.
