She was already close to the podium in previous years but back than fortune was not at her side. This weekend it all went smooth although Brouwer was not in top shape after 110 kilometers she could step at the podium at the National Championships marathon In Eijsden.
‘Already soon in the race I was up in front with later winner Hielke Elferink and Annemiek van Vleuten but noticed they were too strong for me today. I decided to continue in my own pace and managed to keep power to the pedals to the end without really getting in trouble. Great to be finally on the podium at the marathon championships!’, stated a happy Brouwer.
