In second and thirth stage of the Bike TransAlp Gerben Mos and Robbert de Nijs finished at tenth place. The Queens stage started in Imst and lead the riders to Livigno while they had to conquer over 3500 altimeters. In thirth stage from Livigno to Bormio the bikers suffered a lack of oxygen at an altitude of 2800 meters. Mos had to dig deep to keep up with de Nijs.
‘The second stage crossing Austria, Swiss and Italy was really awesome but I really suffered as well. There were two long climbs from around 900 altimeters and one of them was right from the start. On top of that the temperature was quite high too but after the finish line all misery was soon forgotten.’, stated Mos.
De Nijs: ‘Today we had a shorter stage with 68 kilometers but straight from the start in Livigno we had to climb to 2800 meters where we noticed the lack of oxygen. There were also some really steep section where we had to give all we had to reach the top. Satisfied with another tenth place. Tomorrow we have the Gavia and Pasta on our menu.’
Markus Kaufmann and Jochen Kaess won the second stage and Urs Huber and Simon Stiebjahn arrived at first spot in Bormio today. Kaufmann-Kaess are in the lead of the general classification in which Mos and de Nijs are at tenth place.
