Crash keeps Rood and Vreugdenhil from top 10 place

Bram Rood and Stefan Vreugdenhil did a good job in the first stage of TransAlp from Oberammergau to Imst over 98 kilometers and 2200 altimeters. Despite a crash of Stefan they managed to finish as 13th. behind German Karl Platt and Swiss rider Urs Huber who won the first stage.

“We had a very good start and rode together with several teams in a top ten spot. Unfortunately I crashed due to a hiker in the last descend and broke my saddle. It also caused me some serious scratches and wounds. Really a pity because it would have been great to start with a top 10 classification.”, stated Vreugdenhil.
