After Scheveningen and Rockanje, Mariëlle Trouwborst was also the strongest on the beach of Petten today. Early in the race she took the lead on the tough course with lots of loose sand and several climbs through the dune area. During the race she further extended her lead on her closest pursuer Marjet Groen who would eventually finish second. Behind Groen it was Trouwborst’s KMC teammate Lola Bakker who was back in competition after suffering an injury and managed to claim the last podium place. Rozanne Slik finished fourth.
