On Texel, Mariëlle Trouwborst achieved her third victory on the beach on Saturday and had a good start of the season. She previously won the opening race in Noordwijk and the race in Ouddorp solo. ‘Today we initially had five women in a large group of men, but due to the strong crosswind the group thinned out further and eventually I was left with my KMC teammate Rozanne Slik and it became a large group of sprinting for the win. In the loose sand, some men crashed and jumping off the bike in time and running to the finish line was the fastest option,” says Trouwborst. Maud Rijnbeek managed to get the last podium place behind Rozanne Slik.
