Teus Ruijter and Paul Häuser finished the Cape Epic last Sunday in 21st place. Beforehand we had set our goal to be in the top 20, so in that sense it was a bit disappointing. Both men had one bad day each and in the penultimate stage Häuser fell hard while they were just on their way to a position in the top 20.
On the other hand, the equipment held up well and we were able to finish this Cape Epic without any equipment problems. As for the weather, the temperature kept rising in the first stages, with it even reaching over 45 degrees in the third stage on a long climb in the full sun. In the last stages we had to deal with lower temperatures and rain, in which Ruijter and Häuser performed considerably better. Ruijter and Häuser are now taking a break and then preparing for the one-day marathons in Belgium and Germany.
