Three laps of 30 kilometers and 550 altimeters per lap where on te menu for all competitors of the MTB marathon in Amerongen today. Roel Verhoeven took his chance early in the race and escaped and started a long solo. With KMC teammate Gerben Mos behind him there was always a plan B in case his break away would not stand till the end.
In the end Plan B was not needed and Mos took second place in front of Eddy van Ijzendoorn. ‘With the start of the Bike TransAlp next weekend it’s always great to do a race in advance with a good result. I was able to keep my pace today and I look forward to start in Austrian Tux with Tim Smeenge for seven great stages in the Alps next weekend.’, stated Verhoeven.
