Gerben Mos and Robbert de Nijs moved up in the overall standing of Bike TransAlp despite bad luck in stage four and five. The KMC-Intal duo missed a turn off and had to deal with a flat tire yesterday. Today Mos missed a corner and dropped several meters down the mountain.
‘yesterday was a hard day where we had to climb the Gavia followed by a technical hard descend. Unfortunately we took a wrong turn and in the last fast descend to the finish I flattened. We finished on 13th place but still close to our competitors.’, stated Mos.
De Nijs: ‘Today we had a relative short stage crossing Passo Tonale and we were on 8th place. In one of the last descends after a corner Gerben suddenly dissapeared down the mountain. Together with our competitors I could pull him up again. Beside some grazes nothing serious happened to Gerben so we could continue our race full speed to the finish where we arrived as ninth.’
Markus Kaufmann and Jochen Kaess are still in the lead of the Bike Transalp although Urs Huber and Simon Stiebjahn won stage four and five. Mos and de Nijs meanwhile moved up to place nine in the general classification.
