For the third year in a row, Mariëlle Trouwborst managed to win the MTB beach race in Scheveningen. Early in the race, she went on a solo adventure and also reached the finish line solo along the Boulevard. Teammate Rozanne Slik took second place ahead of Barbara Tesselaar. On Saturday, Trouwborst finished second and Slik third in Renesse, Zeeland, behind winner Puck Pinxt.
In the men’s race, Gerben Mos had a strong start and was part of the group of riders who were hunting down the two leaders Rick van Breda and Jules de Cock. De Cock held his ground at the front and was joined by Michiel Hillen who took the win in the final. In a long, hard sprint through the loose sand for the last podium place, Mos finished in a great sixth place.
