While the conditions weren’t autumnal, the course made for a tough race in Katwijk last weekend. The always tricky turning point on the north side, with loose sand, the water barrier, and a few climbs, prevented a large peloton from battling for victory. Trouwborst initially led with Puck Pinxt, but in the commotion of riders chasing after her, she lost touch with the winner. Trouwborst, in turn, managed to hold off Nina Kessler, and shortly after, KMC teammate Rozanne Slik finished fourth.
