She already won the 85 kilometer marathon in Daun in 2013 and 2014 but this weekend Brouwer added the longest distance to her palmares as well. From the start she took the lead and had no weak moments in the fast race over 100k in the German Vulkaneifel. That her shape is excellent she proved the day after by winning the P-Weg marathon in Plettenberg over 70k as well.
Teammates Ramses Bekkenk and Gerben Mos finished 7th and 8th behind winner Karl Platt in Daun. Both were part of the leading group for a long time but they could not keep up the pace in the end. Earlier in the race Bram Rood unfortunately had to deal with a mechanical failure and had lost contact with the front group already.
