Karen Brouwer second on the beach in Renesse

The beach race in Renesse was a turbulent race due to the strong wind and the race was reduced to one lap of 36 kilometers over the Zeeland beach as a precaution. “I was in the game right away and it was going well until the turning point. After the turning point with tailwind, I was unable to respond to an attack by Demi de Jong, but continued to work well with Yva Geluk in the pursuit. On a passage where the beach was very difficult to ride I managed to leave Yva behind. Then it was full throttle alone to the finish with the wind at my back for the most part. It’s nice to be back on the podium after becoming a mother last year and not racing. In two weeks, my first international multi-day event will be on the program in Portugal with the Algarve Bike Challenge.”, says Brouwer.

Rozanne Slik came in as 7th lady and Ramses Bekkenk also took 7th place in the men’s race that was won by Dutch Champion Rick van Breda.
