Although she did not have the strong legs of the last weeks Karen Brouwer decided to attack from the start in the national mountainbike race in Assen. She paid the price for this fast start as Linda ter Beek managed to catch up with her and both women stayed together to the end of the race. Brouwer started the final sprint but was just beaten on the finish line by ter Beek, Bram Rood faced a difficult start in his race but managed to fight back to fourth position. Bart Barkhuis finished at twelfth spot.
