After victories in 2019 and 2021, Gerben Mos came close to his third victory in the 200-kilometer Dutch Masters of MTB in Haarle today. However, it was Adne Koster who came back strongly in the final, overtook Mos and went home with the victory. Chiel Schulten finished third shortly behind Mos. In addition to Mos, teammate Teus Ruijter was also at the front until 120 kilometers. However, Ruijter suffered from the cold after several rain showers and finished eighth after 200 kilometers.
“As the kilometers passed, more and more men dropped out of the leading group and I was eventually left with Chiel Schulten and Max Nijhuis. When Nijhuis dropped out and I also managed to create a gap on Schulten, the win was within reach, but I was also riding at my limit. Schulten and Nijhuis came back shortly afterwards and it seemed to be between us for the win. In the final, however, Adne Koster came back very strong and I could no longer keep up with him. No disappointment for me, but a third victory here in Haarle would have been very nice of course,” said the KMC biker.
