On Thursday, Bas Luca de Vries and Paul Häuser started the four-day mountain bike stage race Andorra Epic in La Massana. A race with short stages but with relatively many meters of elevation and even with seven hundred meters more descending than climbing in the second stage! The Dutch-German duo, who rode together for the first time, had a great start with an eighth place in the first stage behind winners Mark Stutzmann and Sebastian Gesche. Friday went a little less smoothly with minor mechanical problems but still with a tenth place in the day’s results. This time, the Germans Simon Stiebjahn and Martin Frey were the fastest duo.
On Saturday, the men started in Canillo and rode back to La Massana. They arrived there in ninth place and now occupy seventh place in the rankings. The duo Stutzmann-Gesche won the stage again. In the final stage from Natuland to La Massana no more risks were taken and with an eighth place the seventh place in the classification was secured. Mark Stutzmann and Sebastian Gesche were honored as the final winners ahead of the duo Stiebjahn-Frey and José Diaz and Pablo Rodriquez.
