In Austrian Imst Gerben Mos and Robbert de Nijs had a great start in first stage of Bike TransAlp finishing at eight place. The first stage lead to Nauders over 89 kilometers and nearly 3000 altimeters. De Nijs was the strongest of both riders and took the mayor share riding in front.
‘On the first climb I waited for Gerben as the pace in the leading group was a bit to fast en we continued at our own pace. This appeared to be a good choice as down in the valley we caught some teams back.’, stated de Nijs.
Mos: ‘On the steep part of the second climb I had some difficulties again but in the last climb it all went smooth again and we managed to leave our Italian companions behind. Tomorrow the hardest stage is on the menu in which over 3500 altimeters have to be done on our way to Livigno.’
