In a new course record Karen Brouwer rode to victory in Norwegian town Rjukan today. For the 104 kilometers long track of Helterittet she only needed four hours and twenty one minutes. Teammate Gerben Mos rode a strong race as well but there was one man stronger with Norwegian winner Ken-Levi Eikeland. Eikeland also set a new course record. 
‘In the first long climb I had some difficulties to find my rhythm but in the following descend I managed to escape from the other ladies in front and took the lead. The next climb to Kalhovd over the Hardangervidda suited me better and was followed by a great descend back to Rjuka. My first time in Norway and winning here is really a great feeling.’, stated Brouwer. Behind Brouwer Siri Solsvik Fiksdal and Ann Åse Stava finished as second and thirth. 
Looking back at his race Mos concluded that there was someone stronger than him today. ‘Eikeland rode really fast on the first climb and I was afraid to follow him as I knew how long the climb was. When I attacked at the second climb no one followed me so I decided to continue solo. Eikeland was to strong and I was not able to catch up with him.’, stated Mos.
