Karen Brouwer wins the 100 kilometers marathon in Willingen

Before the start there were some doubts in Karen her head. She is about to move house and had done minimal training in the last weeks. Despite working more in her new house than working on the bike she managed to win the 100k race after almost five hours in Sauerland. German riders Sarah Reiniers and Hannah Kölling followed her on second and third place.

Teammates Gerben Mos and Ramses Bekkenk missed the leading group in their race over 130 kilometers. Working well together in the chase they managed to enter the top ten during the race. Unfortunately Bekkenk his advance was stopped by a flat tire. Finally Mos and Bekkenk finished at seventh and eight place behind winner Simon Stiebjahn. Bekkenk his eight place meant he was first Master 40+ rider as well.

KMC-Fruit to Go teammember Bart Barkhuis finished at second place on Friday and Saturday in streetraces in Steenwijkerwold and de Wijk. With these results he took the leaders jersey in the streetrace competition.
