Bike Festival Willingen has become very popular over the years. Thousands of cyclists compete in the disciplines Marathon, Enduro and Downhill, so the mountainbike weekend in Germany’s Willingen is bound to be enjoyable.
For Bram Rood, Ramses Bekkenk and Stefan Vreugdenhil the marathon started first thing in the morning on Saturday. Bram was not at his best and luck was not on his site either, but Ramses started off strong with a third place, heading towards second place behind leader –and eventual winner- Hannes Genze.
Unfortunately the race ended early for Ramses when he irreparably damaged his tyre while crossing a creek. Stefan, also troubled by a breakdown, had to give up on the 120 kilometre race and finished 18th on the 100 kilometre round. Despite not being in best form, Bram in the long run managed to claim fourth place.
