On Texel, Mariëlle Trouwborst won the first mountainbike beachrace and had a flying start to the season. Where she had to fight for the victory with her teammate Rozanne Slik last year, this time she left Tessa Neefjes behind her in the sprint for the win. “Today I quickly took the lead together with Tessa, but I couldn’t get away from her. Shortly before the finish, she jumped out of my wheel and steered up the beach. I followed her at a short distance but chose a different track and managed to pass her just before the finish,” said Trouwborst. Lola Bakker managed to secure the last podium place after Tessa Neefjes. Teammate Rozanne Slik finished fifth.
