Mariëlle Trouwborst ran in the Egmond half marathon in a fast time of 1:24:44 to victory in the combination classification on Sunday. On Saturday she competed for victory in the mountainbike beachrace, but unfortunately she had to let the leaders go due to a flat tire. With a minimal amount of air in her rear tire, she still finished fifth and thus managed to limit the damage.
‘The running went better than expected today because I have not been able to run much this winter due to an injury. Fortunately, I recovered just in time for this competition. This third victory in a row in the combination classification makes my weekend a little better after yesterday’s bad luck,’ said Trouwborst. Teammate Rozanne Slik finished eighth in the beach race on Saturday.
