Tim Smeenge and Teus Ruijter will be at the start of the eight-day Cape Epic mountain bike race on Sunday. In the duo race, the men have to cover a total of 613 kilometers and 16,850 meters of altitude through the South African Western Cape. The opening stage is a 26 kilometer prologue on the Lourensford Wine Estate. From Saronsberg and Wellington, four stages of around 90 kilometers are on the program for both KMC bikers. Wellington also forms the backdrop for the fifth stage of 70 kilometers, after which the race moves to Stellenbosch for the final two stages. Familiar territory for the men as they have been to Stellenbosch before and also stayed in the city the week prior to the Cape Epic.
