With a sixth place Karen Brouwer managed to win the title Silvretta Queen in Ischgl yesterday. The Ironbike marathon and the Montafon marathon both lead across the Silvretta pass. Brouwer won the classification over both marathon races as she finished third last weekend in Montafon.
Brouwer also competed in the Ischgl Ironbike Festival. In this three days stage race she finished eleventh in a short climb stage on Thursday evenening and seventh in a short track race on Friday evening. Next day there was an early start at eight o’clock for the Ironbike marathon in which she took sixth place. Rank six was also her place in the general classification of Ironbike Festival behind Swiss winner Ester Süss.
‘Although the Ironbike marathon with 75 kilometers was much shorter than the Montafon marathon with 130 kilometers I suffered more this weekend in Ischgl. Our Friday evening race was still noticeable on Saturday and we had to climb really steep mountains. With wining the Silvretta Queen title I look back on a great period in Austria.’, stated Brouwer.
