Brouwer-Trommer keep the lead, Mos-Smeenge strengthen their fourth place in Cape Pioneer Trek

The Time Trial around George did not change the position in the general classification for both KMC duo´s. Brouwer and Trommer took their second victory and strengthened their leading position. Mos and Smeenge clocked a fifth time behind winning South African-Danish duo Alan Hatherley and Simon Andreassen. ´We rode a strong Time Trial in which we managed to catch both duo´s on second and third place who started two and four minutes ahead of us.´, stated Brouwer.

Today the peloton rode upon the Montagu pass leaving George to go down after the top into the ´Klein Karoo´ where the temperature went up to over 30°. Brouwer-Trommer were leading together with Yolandi du Toit and Catherine Williamson but had to let them go in a section where they had to walk and finished second. Their leading position was never in danger.

Mos and Smeenge rode a solid stage in which they took fourth place and increased their lead on their competitors. ´We had a really strong day in wich we were for a long time close behind the leaders. The final was hard due to a strong head wind and the burning sun. Luckily we filled our bottles at the last stage so we kept our pace to the finish line.’, stated Mos. Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes took the victory and kept the leaders in the general classification.
