The ‘winterperiod’ was used by Mark Bergmans (Hotel Wesseling) and Martin Schuttert (KMC mountainbiketeam) to set out four beautiful mountainbike routes around Dwingeloo. The four GPS routes guarantee four days of mountain bike fun and nature experience. From Dwingeloo, the routes largely go over existing mountainbike routes that are connected by attractive tracks.
‘With the GPS, everyone can ride their own mountainbike tour for several days in a row. They can do it when it suits them and at the same time discover Drenthe in all its beauty. From Dwingeloo we looked for the four wind directions and the routes lead the mountainbikers to Ruinen in the South (Dwingelderveld), Havelte in the West, Appelscha (Drents-Friese Wold) in the North and to the Col du VAM in the East. The routes are around 75 kilometers long and the fanatics can of course also ride several routes in a row in one day. If you cycle two, three or four routes in a row, then you are KEI-goed, KEI-maf or KEI-ttergek and you can pick up a beer and a cobblestone as a souvenir at Hotel Wesseling on presentation of your Strava file.’, stated Bergmans.
‘To kick off, Roel Verhoeven, Rozanne Slik, Ramses Bekkenk and Tim Smeenge from our team recently each rode one of the routes and we followed them with the camera. The video of these rides gives you an impression of what comes your way and what natural beauty you can expect if you start riding the routes soon.’, says Schuttert.
