Although she had won the 90-kilometer mountain bike marathon convincingly last year, this time she started the race already playing catch-up. &#8220;During the warm-up, I slid out and fell hard on my knee; it was left with an open wound and was quite swollen. I was bothered by it during the race, so unfortunately I couldn&#8217;t push to the max and had to give up the lead early on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hopefully, everything will have healed in time for the Dutch Marathon Championship taking place in Valkenburg next week,&#8221; said Trouwborst. The race was won by Cindy Volkerink, ahead of Sabriena Stultiens. In the men&#8217;s race, Gerben Mos had a good day and finished eighth.
