After narrowly missing out on the podium in the Swiss Villars a week earlier, Mari\u00eblle Trouwborst fought her way to a nice podium place in the German Singen this weekend. In the strongly contested race in the Hegau region, only the German Rosa Kl\u00f6ser and the British Sophie Wright were stronger than the KMC rider. Shortly after the start, Trouwborst rode away on one of the many climbs with Kl\u00f6ser and the Australian Nicole Frain. Kl\u00f6ser proved to be too strong and started a long solo halfway through the first lap. After Frain dropped away at the front, Trouwborst was also left to her own devices in the pursuit of Kl\u00f6ser.<\/p>\n
‘In the second lap of 54 kilometers Wright passed me and I could not keep up with her. I continued at my own pace and had a hard time because of the heat and the climbs that followed each other in quick succession. In total we had to bridge more than 2000 meters of altitude. Fortunately I was able to keep up my pace and thus also secure third place.
