Tough conditions \u2013 Bram Rood\u2019s favourite- in the mountainbike beachrace on Texel this weekend. A great course was set up by the organisation, and not just for the cyclists. As the competitors passed the starting point at Paal 17 several times during the race, spectators had a great view on this challenging beachrace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The race started off at high speed with a tailwind towards the turning point. By the time of the first passage, a leading group of 25 man was formed including Rood and team members Ramses Bekkenk, Stefan Vreugdenhil and Ad de Brabander. The loose sand at the beach entrance of Paal 17 created a differentiation between the competitors, leaving the front runners to start their final battle.\"BramFinishTexel1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Due to a flat tyre Bekkenk sadly missed out on the final battle. But Rood was still up and running, very alert and familiar with the course, which he had thoroughly explored prior to the race. Out of the front runners Rood chose the fastest track, reaching the finish line without threat from runner up Ronan van Zandbeek and third finalist Robbert de Nijs. Vreugdenhil passed the finish line shortly after the front runners in 7th<\/sup> place, and de Brabander finished 25th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
